CLEVELAND, Ohio-Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have agreed to participate in the ABC News debate scheduled for Sept. 10, the first official debate between the two nominees for president.
Both candidates agreed to rules similar to the Biden- Trump CNN debate held on June 27, including muting the microphone when the other is answering a question, and the nominees have not ruled out another debate in October sponsored by another national media venue as the Nov. 5 presidential election nears.
The nation's first Black and first female vice president, Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the nominee for the Democratic party. She formally accepted the Democratic nomination for president on Aug 22 and gave the keynote address during the final night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Illinois. Trump, a Republican, accepted his party's nomination for president at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin in July.
If she wins the November election that she and her fellow Democrats have deemed historic and the most important election in the country's history, Kamala Harris will become the nation's first Black and first female president.
