(RNN) - Thomas Eric Duncan (pictured), the Liberian Ebola patient who had recently flew from Liberia to the U.S., has died in a Dallas hospital.
Duncan, 42, was the first person diagnosed with the virus inside the U.S.
Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, announced Sunday that Duncan was getting worse. He was downgraded from serious to critical condition at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
He was admitted Sept. 28 after initially being turned away a few days before. The hospital first said Duncan never told staff he had traveled from Liberia, but later admitted a nurse had been informed. An investigation is being conducted on how that fact was not communicated further.
Authorities said Duncan came into contact with between 12 and 18 people, including five children. CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX 8 NEWS CAROLINA
