A 15-year-old Black girl reported missing last year was found shot to death Wednesday in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood on the city's largely Black east side.
It is the fourth high profile Cleveland murder of a Black female under 20 in under a month.
Police had stop looking for the Black girl, authorities admit.
According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, Naierra Lockhart. of Cleveland, was found dead in a field about 8 a.m. on East 93rd Street near Empire Avenue.
An official cause of death has not been announced, though authorities say she was shot to death.
Police currently have no suspects.
Neighbors purportedly told police they heard gunshots about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Other than allegedly seeing a late model Black van leave the scene of the crime, witnesses told police they did not see anything.
Crimes against Black women and girls on the city's east side are escalating.
Six-year-old Lyric Melodi Lawson died from a gunshot wound to the head while sleeping in her bed at 1300 block of E. 71st Street and St Clair Ave in the South Collinwood Neighborhood earlier this month.
In late September of this year, two young Black women, Jazmyne Lawson of Cleveland, 18, and 19-year-old Aiyanna Quitman of Euclid, were among four decomposing bodies identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner and found in an abandoned home on the block of East 144th Street and Kinsman Avenue.
The other two murder victims in that quadruple homicide are Dejuan Wills, 20, and Christopher Monroe, 23, both of Cleveland.
Police have no suspects in these cases either.
