CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, Ohio-The young Boston Celtics team moved closer to winning the Eastern Conference Finals Wednesday night, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 83-96, and taking the lead in the series 3-2.

Game six, a do or die game for the Cavaliers,  is Friday night in Cleveland at 8:30 pm EST, the best of seven of which is the standard for the NBA playoffs.

Cavaliers megastar LeBron James, a veteran, had a mediocre game with 26 points , 10 rebounds and six turnovers. He had little help from J.R. Smith or Tristan Thompson, both also veterans who are not new to the playoffs.

James looked fatigued, Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said.

Lue said his team simply had a bad night.

"We have to be able to score the ball," said Lue.

Cleveland has lost five games in the post season in double digits.

Even with Kyrie Irving injured and on the sidelines, Boston had nine three's in the first quarter and is one game from walking away with the Eastern Conference Finals.

Cleveland cut it to 12 in the fourth quarter following a first quarter blow out but could not come back on Boston's home turf.

Jayson Tatum, a Boston rookie, scored 24 points and his teammate Al Horford had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

"We've got to keep doing a good job on the defensive side of the ball," said Boston guard Jaylen Brown after Wednesday's game.
