Led by head coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers have their eyes on the NBA Championship trophy, and so do Cleveland fans, Cleveland a largely Black major American city and the second largest city in Ohio, behind Columbus, the state capital.
The arena rocked all evening as the energetic crowd cheered on their home team and the Cavs brought home another win for the city. They are now 2-0 in the playoffs. They also set an NBA playoff record for 3-pointers in a quarter with 11 during the second quarter Wednesday evening.
Cavs star shooting guard Donovan "Spider-Man" Mitchell, who shot 11 of 19 from the floor and scored 30 points in Game 1 Sunday, and shot 10 of 21 from the floor and scored 30 points Wednesday for Game 2, told reporters after the game that the Cavs need to "build on what we have been doing," as the Cavs prepare for Game 3. It is Sat., April 26, an away game at the Kaseya Center arena in Miami, Florida.
Mitchell acknowledged that his team's success as the Number 1 Seed in the Eastern Conference and in winning both Game 1 and Game 2 represents a team effort under brilliant coaching by Atkinson and his coaching staff. Evan Mobley, Jarrett Alan, Darius Garland, Ty Jerome, Max Strus, Sam Merrill, DeAndre Hunter, Craig Porter, and Dean Wade have also stepped up, Mitchell has said of his teammates.
