CLEVELAND, OH – National Voter Registration Day residents, elected officials, union leaders, faith and civic leaders, and grassroots organizations will join Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11 (pictured) for a rally from 11 am to 1 pm on Tues., September 25, in front of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections 2925 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland to encourage all eligible voters in Cuyahoga County to be registered and prepared to vote on November 6.

Speakers for the two hour voters day rally include Fudge, State Senator Nina Turner (D-25), Ohio House Minority Leader Armond Budish, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, Warrensville Heights Mayor Brad Sellers, South Euclid Mayor Georgine WeloRev. Larry Harris Sr., Rev Timothy Eppinger, Rev. Rodney S. Thomas, Community Activist Khalid Samad, Wrrensville City Councilwoman Ruby Nelson, Judith Vankleef, Deborah Wang, and Harriet Applegate, Executive Secretary North Shore AFL-CIO.

Fudge, a congresswoman and a community activist, said in a press release to Cleveland Urban News . Com that "citizens who are not yet registered to vote are encouraged to register."

She said that the rally is necessary to heighten awareness around voting.

"Voters who are already registered may check their voter registration and rally with others in support of voting laws that protect fair and reasonable access to the ballot box for all Americans," said Fudge.

The Cleveland “For the People” Voter Protection event will be one of several across the country on the same day and at the same time, hosted by members of the Congressional Black Caucus as a part of the "For the People" Voter Protection Initiative H. Res. 542 to bring attention to block the vote efforts, like restrictive voter ID laws, that may impede as many as 5 million people from registering to vote and/or casting a ballot this November.

"Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are committed to ensuring that no eligible voter is turned away from the ballot box during early voting and on election day," Fudge said in a press release.

The only Black congressperson from Ohio, Fudge is also seeking the chairmanship of the Congressional Black Caucus in December.
