CLEVELAND, Ohio- Led by head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs series on Wednesday night in Boston to the Boston Celtics 113-98 in Game 5 of the best of seven series, bringing an end to their 2023-2024 season.
Cavs stars Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen remained injured and unable to play Wednesday as did Caris LeVert, the team's star player off the bench. Darius Garland and Evan Mobley carried the Cavs throughout the series. All of them are Black, and so is coach Bickerstaff.
The series final was 4-1 with the Cavs unable to mount a comeback from a Game 4 loss last week against the No 1 seed.
The Celtics will now face the winner of the series between the Knicks and the Pacers, which New York leads 3-2. Game 6 will be played Friday in Indiana.
