CLEVELAND,Ohio-Community activists will meet with Bill of Rights Defense Committee Field Organizer George Friday (pictured in light blue attire) for pointers on community organizing in the wake of the deadly Cleveland police shooting late last year of unarmed Blacks Malissa Williams and Timothy Ray Russell. The gathering will be held on Saturday Feb. 23 from 11 am to 3 pm at the MLK branch public library in Cleveland, 1962 Stokes Blvd.

"These types of incidents are escalating nationally against all communities of color, especially poor communities and communities that have a history of fighting back,"  said Friday, who is in Cleveland to represent the BORDC, a national organization that promotes the Bill of Rights and issues related to it.

Also, the free "Labor & New Deal Art" exhibit will run at the main  Cleveland Public Library through March 24., 325 Superior Ave, during library hours.

The show, which focuses on life as an industrial worker during an era of heavy organizing and features some 50 prints, is  promoted  by local unions, said Debbie Kline (pictured in dark blue attire)), executive director of Cleveland Jobs With Justice, an organization of some 52 labor and faith-based groups.

A forum related to the exhibit will take place from 1 to 5:30 p.m. On Feb. 23 in the Louis Stokes Wing and will include speakers, performances of New Deal era music by members of Local 4 of the Cleveland Federation of Musicians, and a one-act play, "Capitalization," performed by Cleveland Public Theatre.

For information about the program call  Cleveland Jobs with Justice at (440) 333-7007.
