Voters in Cuyahoga County, which includes Cleveland and is the second largest of 88 counties statewide, behind Franklin County, which includes Columbus, will choose from a host of issues, including open suburban mayors and city council seats, some municipal judge ships in both Cleveland and suburbia, and school board members and tax levies, including a tax levy renewal and increase for Cuyahoga County Community College.

Under state law Cleveland school board members are appointed by the city mayor, which is currently four-term Black Mayor Frank Jackson.

All 17 Cleveland City Council seats and that of the mayor are up for grabs in 2021

For closely watched non-partisan judicial races, two seats are open on the Cleveland Municipal Court with incumbent Republican Judge Marilyn Cassidy facing Joe Russo, and assistant county prosecutor Monet Scott, a Democrat seeking to unseat Republican Housing Court Judge Ronald O'Leary.

Incumbent Cleveland Judge Charles Patton is running unopposed.

County voters will also decide a charter amendment that strips power from the county executive , who had the sole authority to appoint the county sheriff, and mandates confirmation by council as well as affirmative votes by at least eight of the 11 members of county council to fire the sheriff.

Last month some 194,207 voter registrations were removed from Ohio's voter rolls.
