CLEVELAND URBAN NEWS.COM, CLEVELAND, Ohio- Friday, May 3, marked the third-year anniversary of the day this time in 2013 that Michelle Knight, Gina DeJesus and Amanda Berry were rescued from the house of horrors on Cleveland's largely White west side at the since demolished home of the late Ariel Castro, a child rapist who hanged himself in prison while serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Led by the Imperial Women Coalition, greater Cleveland community activists, elected officials (Cleveland councilpersons Mamie Mitchell and Brian Cummins), and Seymour Avenue residents rallied last year on Seymour Avenue as to the second-year anniversary.

Coleman said that she could not organize the rally this year due to ongoing police harassment and her attendance at the Kentucky Derby.

She said that she has been repeatedly harassed by police in University Heights where she lived for numerous years and has been threatened by Sgt Orians, a White dirty cop that she says is stalking her for her activism and writings on police brutality, violence against women, housing theft against county residents, and public corruption in Cuyahoga County. (Editor's note: More than 60 people, mainly businessmen affiliated with the county Democratic party, but also judges and some former county elected officials. have either been found guilty or took plea deals as to an ongoing FBI and county corruption probe made public in 2008)

The  mainstream greater Cleveland media,  mainly Channel 5 News Director Jeff Harris and White Cleveland Plain Dealer Newspaper reporters, are also part of the harassment, among others, including some corrupt judges, said Coleman,

They want remembrance relative to the nationally celebrated abduction case involving Castro and other high profile cases of greater Cleveland murders of women, including the Imperial Avenue Murders, but not accountability by police, officials and others, Coleman said.

Berry was snatched up on April 21, 2003, blocks from her home and while she was leaving her job at the Burger King Restaurant at West 110th Street and Lorain Avenue.

She turned 30 on April 22, and was nearly 17 when Castro kidnapped her. Gina DeJesus, now 26, knew Castro's now grown daughter, a peer, and was 14 when she was kidnapped.

Like Berry, DeJesus grew up in the neighborhood, and close to the Castro home on the now infamous Seymour Avenue.

Michelle Knight, now 34 and a women's advocate spokesperson, was a small frame 21-year-old when she was abducted by Castro.

Knight disappeared on August 21, 2002, Berry on April 21, 2003, and DeJesus, on April 2, 2004.
