WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio -  Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11), a Warrensville Heights Democrat whose majority Black 11th congressional district includes the city of Cleveland and several of its eastern suburbs of Cuyahoga County, and a largely Black pocket of Akron and staggering parts of Summit County, has appointed Kevin L. McDaniel as the new executive director for the 11th congressional district.

McDaniel, who is Black, will oversee the Summit County and Cuyahoga County offices and began work on Jan. 4.

Prior to joining the office, he served as program director at the United Way of Greater Cleveland.

He  also worked previously for the Cleveland Foundation, and is formerly the director of admissions for Cuyahoga County Community College.

“Mr. McDaniel has an extensive record of public service and has demonstrated his dedication to the greater Cleveland community," said Fudge.  "He [McDaniel] has the experience and leadership skills necessary to direct and work with my local staff as they continue to serve the people of Ohio's 11th district."

Former district director  John Hairston, a former chief of communications for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and former director of external programs at NASA John H. Glenn Research Center, will officially leave the job on Jan 15.

"John Hairston has served the 11th congressional district with honor and distinction, and I thank him for his service," the congresswoman said. " John is a public servant, community leader, and a dear friend, and he has guided my staff and their district outreach and casework for more than four years."

Fudge said that she wishes Hairston well in his retirement.
