CLEVELAND URBAN NEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, Ohio-Greater Cleveland community activists, led by Black on Black Crime Inc, Imperial Women Coalition, Carl Stokes Brigade and Refusefacsim.org, will host their Holiday Party beginning at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Josephine's, 7902 Cedar Avenue in Cleveland on the city's largely Black east side. (Event contact phone numbers are Al Porter Jr. of Black on Black Crime Inc. at (216) 804-7462 and Kathy Wray Coleman of Imperial Women Coalition at (216) 659-0473).
Other activist groups include Peace in the Hood, Black Man's Army, Cleveland Chapter of the New Black Panther Party, Stop Targeting Ohio's Poor, Inner City Republican Movement, Greater Cleveland Immigrant Support Network, Committee For Social Justice, BEMAD, Badass Teachers, Oppressed People's Nation, and Protecting Our Children's Safety Before and After School.
The activist groups are racially diverse groups that have been in the trenches on issues from President Donald Trump's policies and immigration reform to the Tamir Rice killing police, the murders of 11 Black women on Imperial Avenue in Cleveland by serial killer Anthony Sowell, and the release of the Ariel Castro Seymour Avenue rape victims.
They have also challenged an uncivilized legal system in Cuyahoga County from malicious prosecutions to a racist and unconstitutional grand jury system and the mass incarceration of the Black community.
Josephine's is a family owned lounge owned and operated by Ward 6 community activist Dionne Thomas Carmichael, a longtime and respected Black community activist whose activism dates back to before the Feckner case and the Michael Pipkens killing by police in 1993.
"We welcome the community and community activists to our establishment," Thomas Carmichael told Clevelandurbannews.com and Kathywraycolemanonlinenewsblog.com, Ohio's most read Black digital newspaper and Black blog
Activist Art McKoy, founder of Black on Black Crime Inc., said he will be at the event and that "the community should support Black owned businesses like Josephine's."
