CLEVELAND, Ohio -March 31 is the deadline to enroll for Obamacare's healthcare insurance (The Affordable Care Act) under its individual mandate, with an extended another two weeks to people that opted to enroll but got caught up via Obamacare website discrepancies or other snags. And Blacks in Congress such as Reps Charlie Rangel of New York, Alcee Hastings of Florida and Barbara Lee of California, led by Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Rep. Marcia Fudge ( D-11), a Warrenville Heights Democrat whose largely Black 11th congressional district includes the majority Black Ohio cities of Cleveland, East Cleveland, and Warrensville Heights and a largely Black pocket of Akron, are using social media websites like Twitter to urge their constituents to sign up by Monday's deadline. The next round of sign-ups is not until October.
Fudge, who entertained U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez in Cleveland last week at an event with doctors and MetroHealth Hospital CEO Dr. Akram Boutros in support of Obamacare, herself is using social media through Facebook to urge her constituents to enroll before the first deadline. The lawmaker told Cleveland Urban News.Com in a press release on the visit by Perez to Cleveland last week that she supports Obamacare.
