WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Friday, January 17, 2020, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) (pictured), a Toledo Democrat whose ninth congressional district extends to Cleveland and chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, will join Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-TX), chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and other congressional members on a Congressional delegation to Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico to investigate the impacts of the Trump administration's remain in Mexico policy and the use of tent court facilities to adjudicate "Remain in Mexico" asylum cases.
The "Remain in Mexico" policy, officially called the Department of Homeland Security's Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), is a Trump administration policy that forces asylum-seekers from Central America to wait in Mexico during their claims process, the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday announcing that it plans to investigate the matter
Kaptur will be accompanied by Baldemar Velasquez, co-founder and president of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee, AFL-CIO.
Rep. Kaptur and Mr. Velasquez have worked closely on issues related to farm labor in North America for many years.
This delegation trip marks approximately one year since the remain in Mexico policy was implemented on Jan. 25, 2019.
The Remain in Mexico policy has turned away approximately 60,000 migrants.
Thousands of families are being forced to wait in dangerous border towns in Mexico as they go through the asylum process, which can take months.
Members will cross the border to visit asylum-seekers in Matamoros, which has the largest tent camp of its kind on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Afterwards, the delegation will tour the tent court facilities in Brownsville, Texas. The tent court facilities have been shrouded in secrecy and there have been multiple reports of due process violations.
Following the tour of the tent court, the members will brief the press on their impressions from their visit to the tent court and discussions with families under the Remain in Mexico policy.

CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, Ohio- The trial for Frank Q. Jackson (pictured), the 23-year-old grandson of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson who was indicted last year on felony charges of felonious assault, abduction and two counts of failure to comply with police relative to a June 10 incident began Tuesday with jury selection.
The mayor has said publicly that he supports his grandson and family members just like other people do.
Whether Frank Q. Jackson could have gotten a fair trial remains to be seen, the common pleas general division bench of Cuyahoga County plagued with corruption and a cadre of racist and unfair largely White judges.
The public will never know.
On Wednesday he took a deal and agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor assault in exchange for prosecutors dropping the remaining charges, and got probation.
He stood accused of strangling and beating an 18-year old Black woman with a metal truck hitch
And while the younger Jackson carries the mayor's last name, he is the biological grandson of the mayor's longtime wife, Edwina Jackson, and the mayor's step grandson.
His case was assigned at random to the docket of Common Pleas Judge John P. O'Donnell , O'Donnell an unofficial Democratic candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court in 2020 and the judge who, in 2015, acquitted since fired Cleveland cop Michael Brelo of two counts of manslaughter for gunning down unarmed Blacks Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell with 49 bullets in 2012.

Cleveland Browns hire Kevin Stefanski as head coach to replace the fired Freddie Kitchens
A string of probable replacements were considered, and, among others, the Browns also interviewed Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who is Arab-American.
A native of Philadelphia, Stefanski joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2006 as an assistant to former head coach Brad Childress.
In 2017, after the termination of Scott Turner, Stefanski was promoted to coach the Vikings quarterbacks, where he helped transform the Vikings into the NFL's 10th-highest scoring offense. Quarterback Case Keenum had his best season under Stefanski, throwing 22 touchdown passes and only seven interceptions. He previously worked with the running backs in 2016 and the tight ends in 2014 and 2015.
After the 2017 season, the New York Giants requested to interview and hire Stefanski as their new offensive coordinator, but Vikings denied the request.
After offensive coordinator John DeFilippo was fired following a 21–7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Stefanski was named interim offensive coordinator.
On January 9, 2019, Stefanski was promoted to full-time offensive coordinator.
He signed with the Browns on Jan 13.

Women's March Cleveland organizers said the issues range from the policies out of Washington, D.C. and unnecessary wars, civil, voting and reproductive rights to education, racism, sexism, climate change, equal pay, jobs, taxes, immigration and religious and other bigotry.
