CLEVELAND, Ohio-Protests in Cleveland, Ohio against President Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk, and the Trump administration are continuing as community activists gear up for a 4pm rally on Sat., April 19 at Public Square in downtown Cleveland.
Dubbed a "Make the Billionaires Pay" rally, the event is part of a National Day of Action and is being organized by the grassroots group 50501. It follows President's Day and International Women's Day rallies and marches held by other groups since Trump took office in January as well as a "Hands off" anti-Trump rally held on April 5 that was also billed as a National Day of Action. It drew nationwide protests with thousands rallying across the country.
The complaints against the president and his Department of Government Efficiency led by Musk are unending and range from what opponents say are White House attacks on everything from education, DEI, social security and federal workers, to immigrants, children, LGBTQ+ members, women, Blacks and other minorities.
At the premise of many complaints is a denial of civil liberties and fundamental due process as the president and members of his administration seek to carry out his agenda to reshape the government and line the pockets of his billionaire friends and associates on the backs of poor people and middle America.
Despite protests Trump seems to be moving forward while also ignoring court orders against many of his actions and thumbing his nose at federal judges he says are political hacks with little knowledge of the law at issue.
