CLEVELAND URBAN NEWS.COM, CLEVELAND, Ohio-Greater Cleveland community activists will host a candidates for Cleveland mayor public forum at 5:30 pm on Tues., Aug 22, 2017 at Angie's Soul Cafe at 3400 St Clair Avenue in Cleveland with Cleveland mayoral candidates state Rep. Bill Patmon (D-10), Ward 10 Councilman Jeff Johnson, former East Cleveland mayor Eric Brewer, Dyrone Smith, Brandon Chrostowski,  and Robert Kilo confirming attendance. The primary election is Sept 12 with the two top vote-getter's advancing to the Nov 7 general election. The aforementioned and incumbent Mayor Frank Jackson are among the nine bona fide candidates for the office to lead the majority Black major American city of some 385,000 people.

The activist groups have also invited the candidates for Cleveland Municipal Court Judge for the six-year full term commencing Jan 5, 2018, with current Judge Michael Sliwinski, who was appointed by Gov. Kasich to replace the late former judge Ed Wade, candidate Michael Nelson Sr, a local criminal defense attorney and on-leave-to-campaign president of the Cleveland NAACP, and East Cleveland Asst law Diretor Marlene Ridenour, confirming.

Candidates for any office this year are also invited to drop off literature or to be recognized at the gathering, organizers said.

Moderated by Alfred Porter Jr of Black on Black Crime and Kathy Wray Coleman of the Imperial Women Coalition, the event is timely, and includes the activist groups the Imperial Women Coalition, Black on Black Crime Inc., Black man's Armythe Carl Stokes Brigade, Fairfax Business Association, Rebuilding Our Village, International Women's Day March Cleveland, Cleveland African-American Museum, ClevelandUrbanNews.ComKathyWrayColemanOnlineNewsBlog.Com, BADASS Teachers, BEMAD, Stop Targeting Ohio's Poor, and Protecting Our children's Safety Before and After School.

The program will begin with the introduction of panelist candidates, followed by two minute speeches from five activists of Princess Moore, Dick Peery, Melissa Svigelj Smith, Kathy Wray Coleman, and Art McKoy. Those activists, and the mother of murdered Cleveland teen Alianna DeFreeze, will address the issues of education, police matters, violence against women and children, the $15 minimum wage battle, the Q-Deal, racial profiling, jobs and housing, the legal system, and racism, bigotry and White supremacy, including the Charlottesville fiasco and a recent beating by White cops in Euclid, Ohio of an unarmed Black male motorist that went viral.

Thereafter, candidates will state their platforms ( 2 minutes each), followed by open and uncensored questions from the audience.

Angelique Malone, one of eighth surviving children of Cleveland East 93rd Street Murders victim Christine Malone, whose killer is still at large, will pose the first question from the audience to the panelists.

Activists the Rev Pamela Pinkney-Butts and the Rev Gwendolyn Pitts will do the opening and closing prayer, respectively, and Frances Caldwell, executive director of the Cleveland African-American Museum, will recognize elected officials and candidates for office.

Cleveland police cars chase two unarmed Blacks from downtown Cleveland to neighboring East Cleveland the night of Nov. 29, 2012. The 23 -minute car chase ended in the parking lot of Heritage Middle School and culminated in 13 non- Black Cleveland police officers firing a total of 137 bullets at Malissa Williams 30, and Timothy Ray Russell, 43, the driver of the 1979 Chevy Malibu. Both Russell and Williams were Black, and both died at the scene.  Some 105 police officers and 64 police cruisers participated at some level in the deadly chase.
